Modal adverbs teaching has always been one of the most difficulties in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Due to its meaning is quite complex and its function is quite various in modern Chinese.The syntactic environment,syntactic function is more complex than other words as well.They show unique nature in syntax,in semantics and in pragmatics,etc.It is extremely hard not only for the study of Chinese learners,but also for the teaching of Chinese teachers.There are also some problems about modal adverbs "Yuanlai" and "Benlai" in teaching and learning.Though there are many research articles for the "Yuanlai" and "Benlai".It mainly studies the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic from the perspective of synonyms.However,there are few articles on the teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The modal adverb "Yuanlai" and "Benlail" can be expressed with the English word "originally".We call it“translation equivalents”,and it is easier for English speaking students to confuse two of them.This paper will compare and analysis the difference between “Yuanlai”and“Benlai”.We analysis the errors that collected from the “HSK”dynamic composition corpus” and paper survey,and proposed the learning and teaching strategies combined with its syntax,semantic features,hoping to provide some help in teaching modal adverbs “Yuanlai”and “Benlai”.Making the native English learners to master the usage of the modal adverb "Yuanlai" and "Benlai".The thesis is composed of five parts:The first chapter is introduction.The introduction mainly discusses the purpose and significance of the topic,and expounds the research content,theoretical basis and research methods.We review the documents on ontology and comb the classification and interpretation of the "Yuanlai" and "Benlai" in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,in order to know the strong point and the shortage of the research about "Yuanlai" and "Benlai".All of these studies provide help for our follow-up study.The second chapter is about the ontological research of Modal Adverb "original" and "original".On the basis of previous studies,we will start from the perspective of the translation equivalents.Combined with the errors arising from the study of nativeEnglish speakers,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis and study on the syntax and semantics of the modal adverb "Yuanlai" and "Benlai".In order to find some rules between "Yuanlai" and "Benlai",and propose some teaching suggestions.To make a useful exploration for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In the third chapter,the author makes an analysis of the students' errors and acquisition.According to the research objectives,we design a targeted questionnaire,and analyze the results of the survey.We find out the errors of the native English speakers in understanding and using the "Yuanlai" and "Benlai",and summarize the types and causes of errors.The fourth chapter is the teaching strategy of "Yuanlai" and "Benlai" in native English speaking students.We propose two teaching strategies: The first one is the classroom teaching strategies.It includes situational approach,comparative teaching method,strengthening exercises,step by step method;The second one is the textbook writing strategies.It includes the meaning of the word need to be specific,the sample needs to be clear,and pay attention to the level of meaning,to focus on nationalization,to strengthen the rational,to make it interesting.The fifth chapter is summary.In this chapter,we elaborate the research conclusion,and point out the research value and deficiency of this paper.
