Syntactic And Semantic Research On The Chinese Particles "Duo","lai" And "Ba"

In modern Chinese,duo,lai and ba are frequently used after the numeral or the numeral-quantifier phrase as a particle.There are many descriptive researches on the syntactic distribution and the value range of duo,lai and ba in Chinese linguistics.And certainly there is also exploration of the origin and development of the three words used as particles.In spite of fruitful achievements,the deep research on the semantic and syntactic differences among the three words is relatively scarce.The thesis believes that there is still worthy supplement to the study of the syntax and semantic meaning of the three Chinese particles and summarizes the following problems that exist in the research:Firstly,the part of speech and the appellation of duo,lai and ba are still in dispute in linguistics.Secondly,there have been controversies about the value range of lai in the field.Thirdly,as for the syntactic and semantic differences among the three words,the present research only describes their different distribution in sentences and their different value ranges.The research on their differences is not comprehensive and profound.According to the above problems,the research direction of the thesis is determined.The paper analyzes these related syntactic and semantic problems of the three Chinese particles duo,lai and ba by applying the X-bar theory,? calculus and fuzzy set theory in linguistics.Based on the analysis of their syntax and semantics and their differences,the thesis puts forward that the three words should be defined respectively instead of being generally called "the particle of quantity" or "the auxiliary word of approximate number".The paper believes that duo is a particle of numeral and a particle of quantity for generality,lai is a particle of quantity for fuzziness,and ba is a particle of quantity for fuzziness which is used after the quantifier.
