Research On Translation Of Public Signs From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

The research of translation to public signs is drawing more and more attention from translatory circle. And scholars are moving their researching priorities from the correction of public signs samples to the researches under the direction of various translation theory or even linguistic theory. These new methods provided new perspectives for the research of the translation of public signs. Inevitably, the currently-used translatory theories are not good enough in many aspects. The Eco-translatology is a new translation approach which put the translation in the whole Eco-system of translation, including the natural ecosystem. The main feature of the Eco-translatology is to discuss the translation in a comprehensive perspective of ecological rationality, instead of discussing that from a certain single perspective.The main content of this thesis is the translation of public signs from the perspective of Eco-translatology, meanwhile, discussing the translation of public signs in Nanchang. For English has indeed became an "international language", most of the public signs are translated into English, so the translation of public signs in this thesis is about the C-E translation. Firstly, the shortcomings of the main translation theories to the research of the translation of public signs and the basic situation of the using and researches of public signs translation in Nanchang was discussed. These discussion were based on the field works to the translation of public signs in Nanchang. Second, gave a detailed explanation to the translation procedure of public signs under the direction of Eco-translatology, and discussed the translation target from the perspective of linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension.The international standardization conference and some domestic official organizations set down regulations to the translation of road signs--special and important public sign. But these regulations are very defective from the perspective of Eco-translatology. So this thesis put forward different understanding and translating methods to the translation of road signs.At last, this thesis put forward suggestions to the development of research and using of translation of public signs in Nanchang. And gave a conclusion to the translating method of public signs from the perspective of Eco-translatology, the prospect of the translating research to public signs under the direction of Eco-translatology and the defect of this research.
