Chinese Character Graphics Applied In Book Design

The history and tradition of graphical features of Chinese characters constitute important cultural roots and source of inspirations for book design in China.Since the inception,it has been following the course of evolution of visual graphics integrating meaning,form and structure,serving as quintessence of visual creation with form and meaning rolled into one,and comprising the basic concept and important grounding for graphical design of "Thousand Character Primer",the cultivation reader of studies of Chinese ancient civilization.Based on systematical teasing out and researching of the history and development status of Chinese characters' graphics,the design of "Thousand Character Primer",the cultivation reader of the Chinese studies makes a research summary of the history,status quo and development trend of Chinese character graphics applied in book design,discusses and analyzes modern Chinese characters as well as their application strategies,methods and approaches in book design,and explores into new means and approaches of book design for Chinese character graphics.Besides,it seeks to integrate the book design of Chinese character graphics with the cutting-edge digital technology under the digital background,and extend and expand the design on the basis of paper books to arrive at new thoughts of book design for Chinese character graphics at a higher ideological and conceptual level under the current new cognitive environment.
