A Report On The C-E Translation Of User Manual Of EPSON Ink Jet Printer

With the rapid booming of economy and globalization in China,a great number of domestic companies promote their products by cooperating with overseas firms,which not only is conducive to expanding the marketshare but also contributes to benign exchanges between countries.With regard to the sales in machines,so as to popularize our products in the international market and strengthen the bonds with our partners,we should equip our products with accurate manuals which serve as assistance while they are operating the machines and instant solutions to any malfunctions,thus improving the user experience.Based on the translation material of over 20,000 words,the translation report takes the user manual(concerning the parameters of machines,operating and maintenance)of the EPSON ink jet printer as the research source and explains how to apply translation theory learned into the C-E translation of the mechanical products and related software in the light of text typology.The whole report is divided into four parts,of which the first part is the description of the source text,the significance and structure of the report.The second part looks at the translation process which includes the author's familiarizing a lot of parallel text and guiding theory before translation and the proofreading from both the author and the translation initiator after translation.The third part is a case study in which difficulties confronted in the translation process such as the terms,the contents and the sentence structures are explained and corresponding translation methods such as conversion and amplification are put forward.The last part is a conclusion consisting of the limitation of the translation,the knowledge the author gets during the process and the reflection from the author so as to contribute to the further study.
