This is a report on the translation of the first and third chapters of East-West Perspectives on Educational Leadership and Policy(translated?????????????in Chinese by the translator)which was published in the United States by Untested Ideas Research Center in 2015 but has not been translated into Chinese yet.The book is a collection of empirical studies in social sciences that used quantitative methodologies in designs and analyses.Chapter 1 introduces the change of the environment, model and meaning of leadership in the context of globalization, and putting forward the framework of strategic leadership and the way of cooperation.Chapter 3 aims at exploring the roles of school principals in promoting teachers'professional development and actions that principals take to facilitate their development.Translating this kind of material may provide a reference to research in domestic educational policy. In this translation report, the translator first introduces some basic information of the report, including the background, objectives of the translation and the structure of this thesis, and then introduces all the work the translator done during the translation process:including checking relative materials;skimming the translation materials to get a basic understanding of the main idea;estimating the difficulties that may arise in the process of translation and choosing proper translation methods. In the end,the translation was sent to two supervisors to check and revise and the translator revised the translation in accordance with supervisors' suggestions. Then, both source text analysis and theories used as the guideline during translation are discussed with the focus on the application of Skopos theory and some translation strategies in dealing with the difficulties during the translation process;and in the end,the translator makes a summary of the report by drawing on some implications obtained from the translation process and points out some problems needed to be worked out in translation practice in the future as well.
