This report,taking Nida's functional equivalence theory as starting point,summarizes translation strategies and methods,translation process and difficult problems solving and etc.in the Chinese-English translation practice on practical writing of invitation texts related to foreign affairs.Through applying functional equivalence theory to translation practice on practical writing of foreign affairs,this report not only emphasizes that a translation theory has strong guidance functions to translation practice,but also proves the feasibility of applying this translation theory in the translation practice.The report first introduces the background,requirement and content of translation task and the features of source language texts.Secondly,it systematically describes the processes of pre-translation,translation and post-translation,involving translation plan and auxiliary translation preparation in pre-translation,overall translation thinking and text translation process in translation process and translation quality control in post-translation.Thirdly,it introduces the functional equivalence theory and its application in translation.Fourthly,the author studies the difficult translation cases from four aspects: text style,discourse,sentence and word,and puts forward the feasible solutions.And lastly,the author concludes this translation task,gets enlightenment and lessons from the translation practice.
