Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(TCSOL)should take into account the imparting of knowledge,the cultivation of communicative competence and the spread of Chinese culture.Chinese euphemism is undoubtedly a significant part of TCSOL.Throughout the related studies of euphemism,it is not difficult to find that the study of Chinese euphemism is quite sufficient,but the relevant research on TCSOL is not sufficient.Many scholars still pay close attention to the contrastive study of foreign language and Chinese,instead of the teaching of euphemism in TCSOL.The related teaching research is urgent.From the micro-level,this paper chooses a series text book named Spoken Chinese(Third Edition)which is published by Peking University Press,combs and analyzes the euphemism of those textbooks.Then it prepares a questionnaire on the acquisition of euphemism for senior Chinese students in Zhejiang University.Then,based on the above investigations,it analyzes the textbook compiling,teacher teaching and student acquisition.Any study of theories originates from practice and is also used to guide practice.On the basis of analysis above,the author puts forward some suggestions of euphemism about the preparation of textbooks,teachers ’teaching and students ’ acquisition,hoping to provide some ideas for related teaching activities,improve the teaching efficiency as well as teaching quality,and help foreign students to improve their Chinese proficiency,especially their communicative competence.
