In recent years,China has embraced an unprecedented Golf fever. However, since golf is not a native Chinese sport, there has been an increase in the demand for translated Golf instruction manuals for the professional Golfers and amateurs.Golf clubs have responded to this demand by opening golf courses designed for the occupations, specific to this industry, such as golf coaches, caddies, referees and other practitioners and golf trainers.People can find that domestic golf professional corresponding materials is relatively limited, and golf English translation research literature is quite rare;obviously, related literature translation is seriously devoid.Although golf is booming at home, the demand for golf bilingual culture is in short. The shortage of such translations will greatly affect the sound development of Golf in China. This translation task directly addresses this deficiency by summarizing practical translation during about six months translation experience in the US-California Golf Club(Beijing). The main body of this report is the translation of Practical Golf.During this period, the translator conducted an in-class translation for experienced coaches,Scott Miracle and Alex Kollar at the aspect of combat techniques in English,as well as the translations of the two English-language materials compiled by the two coaches. The skills, methods and strategies of golf are collated, and summarized, and the relevant translation experience is analyzed, studied and summarized accordingly. The thesis describes the translation process of the entire project in an all-round way, aiming at validating and expanding the practical application of relevant translation theories in English translation of golf.It targets to provide a reference for more translators with professional golf translation. From an academic point of view,it helps to promote the internationalization of China's golf. There are a large number of professional terms in the original text, and the number is huge, which undoubtedly greatly increases the difficulty of translation. In response to this situation, the translator uses translation methods such as free translation, conversion, amplification, and division under the guidance of skopos theory. The main part of the thesis consists of six parts: introduction, translation task description, transaltion process, case study, characteristics of source text, and translation evaluation. The second part of translation process introduces theprobationary work, main problems and solutions in translation and revision. The third chapter of the task process is described from functionalist skopos theory;the fourth chapter focuses on case study;Chapter V describes translation evaluation and discussion;the last chapter of the practice summary of the entire process to draw some experience and methods,as well as their own deficiencies for future translation.
