A Study On Language Landscape Of Hefei City In The Context Of Teaching Chinese To Speakers Of Other Languages

As an important part of urban language ecology,Language landscape can reflect the using condition of written language in a city.In the recent background,teaching chinese to speakers of other languages,Language landscape can also serve as important material for teaching Chinese as a foreign language,to help international students learn Chinese.In addition,building harmonious language landscape in Hefei will attract more foreign students and people to study and do business.Based on the field study of the language landscape of Hefei,this paper makes a real and objective description of the language landscape in Hefei by combining questionnaire survey and interview,and puts the research results into practice,and then puts forward Suggestions for improving the language ecology of Hefei and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper includes seven parts:The first part is the introduction of research background,the purpose and significance,as well as research methods and ideas.Besides,the situation of language landscape research at home and abroad are also stated.As a new field of linguistics research,language landscape has been paid more and more attention by scholars,and it is not clear how the language landscape is in Hefei.With the development of Hefei,more and more foreigners choose to work and study here.Which help can the language landscape offer them?whether teachers can use language landscape to teach foreign students or not?All of these questions need further study.The second part is the theoretical content study of the language landscape.It mainly introduces the linguistic landscape in six aspects,including the concept,function,research object and content,theoretical framework,analysis dimension and research significance.It also summarizes the theoretical achievements of the development of language landscape,laying a foundation for further empirical research.The third part is the research on the language landscape of Hefei,which is the main part of this thesis.It selects the main scenic spots signs,rail transit line 1 signs,the traffic signs,the road signs,and the shop signs etc,to make a field study of the two kinds of language landscapes from the top down and from the bottom up,so as to describe the present situation of the language landscape in Hefei and make up the current research blank,providing practical reference for further research.The fourth part is the questionnaire and interview survey of the language landscape in Hefei,which mainly carries out the questionnaire survey among the local and foreign residents of Hefei.Meanwhile,the foreign people are assisted in in-depth interviews to learn about their views on the language landscape of Hefei.Finally,It provides a feasible reference for the urban language ecology construction and teaching Chinese as a foreign language in universities.The fifth part is the enlightenment of language landscape research results on teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Hefei local colleges and universities,starting from the five aspects of textbook compilation,curriculum setting,teaching arrangement,teaching environment and supporting facilities and practical activities,and exploring how to provide better language environment and Chinese materials for foreign students to learn Chinese,broaden their approaches to learning Chinese,and enhance the practicability of teaching.The sixth part is the enlightenment of the language landscape research results of in Hefei city's language ecological construction.It mainly starts from the three aspects of standardization,diversification and internationalization of language ecological construction,and puts forward Suggestions to improve the language landscape of Hefei,so as to create a convenient and comfortable environment for the life of foreign residents,and attract more foreigners to study and work in Hefei.The seventh part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main ideas and conclusions of this paper,and makes a summary on the research deficiencies.
