This is a report on the translation of The New Science of Learning: How to Learn in Harmony With Your Brain by Terry Doyle,of which chapter 6 “Memory”and chapter 7 “Mindset Toward Learning” are the source text.The translation of these two chosen chapters belongs to not only academic translation of non-literary translation,but the informative text.The text type of the source text indicates the key point of translation is to convey information accurately,thus the core of this project lies in whether communicative translation suits academic text and the encountered problems and corresponding solutions.The main content of these two chosen chapters is about how to learn more efficiently from the aspects of physiology and psychology.The source text is an informative text with a style of conciseness and clearness.A number of science researches of physiology and psychology are quoted to prove its preciseness,thus lots of professional terms and long sentence can be found in the selected chapters.Therefore,terms and long and complex sentences are the main difficulties encountered in the process of translation.The terminology of psychology is especially difficult.In the course of translation,the translator mainly uses communicative translation as the guiding principle in accordance with the informative text,applying the translation methods of division,amplification and conversion.At last,the translator summarizes the enlightenments and problems that have yet to be solved...
