| This report is based on the translation of Chapter 17 “Assessing Security with Regard to Cloud Applications in STEM Education” of the book Handbook of Research on Cloud-Based STEM Education for Improved Learning Outcomes written by Ihssan Alkadi a professor of the Department of Computer Science,Industrial Technology of Southeastern Louisiana University.In this chapter,the author analyzes the potential threats in cloud computing and focuses on the steps and measures to ensure cloud security.Based on the measures,he evaluated the security of cloud application in STEM education.This report is divided into five chapters.Firstly,it is a brief introduction to the background,significance and structure of the report.Secondly,it is a detailed introduction to the ST,including the author,the content and the linguistic features.The source text is a scientific and technological text which belongs to an informative text proposed by Reiss' s text typology theory.So,thirdly,the translator adopted Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory to achieve the best translation quality.Fourthly,it is about the difficulties encountered by the translator during the translation process and corresponding solutions adopted.The ST includes many terminologies since it is a scientific and technological text,so the difficulties for the translator is the translation methods for terminologies and long and complex sentences.For the long and complex sentences,the translator divided it into attributive clauses and adverbial clauses.According to the characteristics of these difficulties above,the translator adopted zero translation and semantic translation for terminologies,and inversion,division,addition,omission and restructuring for long and complex sentences.Lastly,the translator summarizes what she has gained through the practice and some weaknesses of the translation project such as the translation of proper nouns. |
