Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient,on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. Many fields such as governments, transportation, telecommunications and education in China and other countries started to apply the technology of cloud computing. But the research of cloud computing falls behind in China, works with detailed documentations about the basic principles of cloud computing are rare to see and so are the Chinese versions of this kind. Therefore it is of high significance for the translator to select Cloud Computing:Concepts and Practice as her translation project.Through this translation practice, the translator is able to learn about cloud technology and related professional knowledge, practice her practical application of translation theory, and improve her translation practice ability. This paper is a translation practice report of book Cloud Computing:Concepts and Practice,co-authored by Naresh Kumar Sehgal and Pramod Chandra P.Bhatt.Four chapters(chapters 3-6)demonstrate relevant terms, definitions, concepts, historical evolution and underlying architecture and classification of cloud service models. This report consists of 5 parts, including an introduction of the translation project,an introduction of the source text,a description of the translation process, translation difficulties and methods applied to tackle these problems and a conclusion. The introduction of the translation project is about its background, the theoretical guidance and the significance. The second part is an introduction of the source text, which is mainly about the author, the content and linguistic features. The description of translation process is divided into pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation.Pre-translation includes source text reading, parallel text consulting and the use of computer-aided translation software.While-translation is finding ways to solve the problem of terminology and long sentences. After the translation is done,proof-reading is needed to ensure the quality of the translation. In the chapter of translation difficulties and corresponding methods, which is the focus of this report, the translator analyzes the practical difficulties encountered in translation process from the perspective of the terms and long sentences. For example, the translator adjusts orders of long sentences and remodels syntax under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory, which aims to produce on its readers an effect as close as possible to that obtained on the readers of the original.Translation methods applied in the translation procedure are conversion, omission, amplification, division and sentence order adjustment. Finally, experience and lessons, problems to be solved to the translation practice are summarized in the fifth chapter.
