This original text is from the first two parts of Chapter 1 of The Little Black Book Of Decision Making by Michael Nicholas.They are “Let's Get Real: We All Make Mistakes” and “Rules Breakers and Rules Makers”.Professionally,decisions are arguably the things that make the difference to the level of success we achieve,because they determine how well every other talent or capability that we have can be applied.Michael Nicholas' book challenges us all to think about what's at the heart of decision-making process and understand how we can improve the quality of our decision through the conscious and sub-conscious in our thought processes.Currently,the researches about decision-making are still immature in China.Therefore,to translate this text about decision-making can help people know more about the way of making decisions and help them achieve success in an easier way.This original text is informative.The translator completes this report based on the Reiss' s classification of text and Skopos theory with translation methods of informative texts.Reiss and Vermeer state that knowing why a ST is to be translated and what the function of the TT are crucial for the translator.Therefore,based on those theories,when translating an informative text,the translator should not follow the original patterns or forms but make great efforts to express original messages in an appropriate ways and achieve purposes of the author to help more and more people understand and improve decision-making ability.Chapter 1 is the description of the translation project,including the project background,significance and structure.Chapter 2 is about the analysis of the source text,and the introduction of author's information and linguistic features.Chapter 3 is about the difficulties of specialized terms and long and complex sentences translation based on Reiss' s classification of text and Skopos theory,and two translation skills—division and conversion to solve the translation difficulties.Chapter 4 is about the experience from the translation project,and lessons learned from the translation project.
