A Report On The Translation Of Social Theory Now (Chapter 1)

This is a report on the translation of “On the Very Idea of Cultural Sociology”,Chapter 1 of Social Theory Now.The source text of the selected part mainly clarifies the concept of culture and unveils its function and significance in the society by examining the relationship between culture and economy,culture and people or actors so as to further improve the theoretical framework of cultural sociology.The report consists of four chapters.The first chapter describes the background,significance and objectives of the project.The second chapter analyzes the source text,including introduction of the author,main contents,stylistic and linguistic features of the source text.The third chapter studies the translation difficulties and methods,introducing the Skopos Theory and its application in this report.The fourth chapter summarizes the experience gained during the translation process and the tranlators' s reflections on it.
