Of C-E Script Translation Of Characters' Dialogues In The Robbery Of The Green Jewelry

The source of the script material was from a film work released by JuYao Media Co.Ltd.in ShenZhen in 2016.There are lots of characters' dialogues in this material.It is time-consuming to study how to transfer the characters' dialogues to those words which can be understood by foreigners and also can reflect the features of the source language at the same time.In this script,there are a lot of the characters' dialogues,psychological activities,descriptions of movement and voice-overs,especially the characters' dialogues reaching up to390 sentences.The features of vocabularies and sentences in characters' dialogues are more flexible.Moreover,the diversification of sentence lengths and styles makes the characters' dialogues to be extremely difficult in translation.Based on principles of domestication and foreignization,this thesis takes the script of The Robbery of The Green Jewelry as an example.Grasping adequate text particularity,the author will discuss how to translate the characters' dialogues into English version,so as to reach the communicative function from source language to target language.This thesis mainly introduces the development history and current situation of the translation of characters' dialogues in domestic and foreign films and television programs.Compared with the foreigh countries,the research in this field in China is relatively behindhand.In particular,there is a big gap compared with the western countries.The author introduces the theory of domestication and foreignization,and then analyzes the relevant definitions and characteristics of the characters' dialogues in the film and television script.Moreover,the author also analyzes the characteristics and classifications of the characters dialogue in The Robbery of The Green Jewelry.In the end,the author proposes the idea that the translation of the characters' dialogues should be mainly based on domestication and foreignization.The domestication method applied for vocabulary,syntactic structures,expression form and customary characteristics is helpful for foreign audiences to understand the sentences.And the foreignization method in conveying the regional culture and the uniquecultural is helpful for foreigners to understand the culture of our country.In conclusion,the author discusses the application of the domestication and the foreignization in the translation of the characters' dialogues in the film and television script,and proposes that the two views have both advantages and disadvantages in the translation of the characters' dialogues.Therefore,domestication and foreignization should co-exist,but the author can focus on the actual condition in dealing with the problems.At the same time,in choosing strategies,the characteristics of the characters in the film and the characteristics of dialogue translation as well as the feelings of the viewer should also be taken into consideration,thus achieving the unity of sound and picture as far as possible and making the film more acceptable by audiences.
