A Report On C-E Simulated Interpretation Of President Xi Jinping's Keynote Speech At The Opening Session Of The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017

As a rigorous field,international conference interpretation has extremely high requirements for English interpreters.In the stressful environment of international conferences,interpreters should maintain a rigorous style of translation,a correct attitude,clear articulation and logic.Without knowing the script of speech beforehand,it is difficult for interpreters to control the contents of it.Therefore,interpreters need to have a certain degree of predictability,profound English skills,rapid response and superb ability to adapt.As an interpreter of the English language,it is important to master interpreting skills and to lay a solid foundation for future interpreting practice.This report selects Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2017 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum as the model version for analysis.The report is a comparison of my translation version with the on-site one done by the general secretary's interpreter and applied the interpretation theory,which is "discourse analysis-de-verbalization-reformulation",studied and analyzed the on-site interpreting version to find the shortcomings and thus to polish my own.What's more,delving into expert-level interpreting versions to learn about unique refinements and summarize some of the translation skills and tactics used in the interpretation of international conferences will greatly assist my future interpretation practice.
