Simulated Interpretation Practice Report Of The 2017 Ping Dingshan Government Report

This thesis takes the 2017 Ping Dingshan government work report as an example,and studies the strategies to deal with the difficulties,in the interpretation of the 2017 Ping Dingshan government work report.This thesis includes six chapters.Chapter one is the introduction,to the significance,aims and structure of the thesis,as well as strategies,used in this simulated interpretation.Chapter two is literature review,which is about some scholars' previous studies on the interpretation of government work reports,and what I have gotten from their researches.Chapter three is the task description,and it includes three parts;the first part is about the content of the 2017 Ping Dingshan government work report;the second explains why I choose this task;and the last part describes the simulated interpretation strategies.Chapter four is about the simulated interpretation process,and it includes four parts.The first part is the pre-simulated interpretation,and it includes the background information preparation,terms preparation and cliches' preparation.The second part of chapter four is about the simulated interpretation process,and it includes the how to deal with terms,how to deal with long sentences and note-taking.The last part of this chapter is the after simulated interpretation,and it includes self-comments and comments from my classmates.Chapter five is the case study of the 2017 Ping Dingshan government work report,and it contains two parts.The first part is about the difficulties in the simulated interpretation,and it includes the interpretation of terms and the interpretation of long sentences.The second part is the interpretation strategies,and these strategies are:using background information to aid understanding,explaining terms,restructuring long sentences,and combining redundant information.Chapter six is the conclusion.From this simulated interpretation,I get to know how to interpret terms and long sentences,characteristics of government reports,and some important points of preparation before interpretation.Major findings from this simulated interpretation practice are how to take notes,make preparation,interpret long sentences,and how to use literal translation and free translation properly.Hopefully it can provide some useful suggestions for interpreters and students who major in interpretation.
