Report On Translation Of Hubble Space Telescope Discoveries

With the development of science and technology and the gradual increasement of the global economic integration,English for Science and Technology(EST)is becoming more and more important.As a unique language genre,it is an important medium for academic exchanges between domestic and foreign scientists and technicians.It is also an important way for technology enthusiasts to acquire scientific and technological knowledge.This article is based on the theory of functional equivalence to explore scientific and technological English translation strategies.Based on the characteristics of my report,this report analyzes the language features of EST and summarizes the issues that should be paid attention to during translation.This report starts with the functional equivalence theory using the perspective of formal and functional equivalence from the view of the readers to explore the translation practice.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory by Nida,this report cites a large number of examples and elaborates the practice of the theory in EST translation from the perspective of meaning and style.
