Since science and technology progress rapidly with each passing day in modern society,it is essential for China to introduce advanced science and technology.With the enhancement of China's scientific strength,exchanges of technical information between China and other countries in the world become increasingly frequent.The quality of translation has direct influences on the communications of scientific and technical workers,therefore English for Science and Technology translation plays a more significant role.This is an E-C translation practice report on Unicracking Unit Progress Technology Training.The author takes the original and the translated text as the research material,and tries to solve the difficult problems found in the translation process under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory with an attempt to discuss the translation methods and techniques of EST translation.The practice report is divided into four parts.In the first part,it is a brief introduction about the background and requirements of the translation task and research significance of this practice.In the second part,there is a description of translation process,including preparation,translation and proofreading.In the third part “Case Analyses”,the most important part in this report,the difficult and typical translation problems are analyzed from lexical,syntactic and textual levels.And the author tries to adopt appropriate translation strategies and techniques on the basis of Functional Equivalence Theory to find out solutions to practical application problems.The last part is a summary of this translation practice,which includes the review and reflection of this translation task and experience gained in the practice,so as to provide some reference for the technical translators. |
