The thesis is conposed of the source text of The Causal Impact of Attending High Tech High’s High Schools on Postsecondary Enrollment, its Chinese version and a report on the translation. The source text examines the causal impact of attending High Tech High(HTH)in USA on postsecondary enrollment. It is found that HTH effectively prepares its students to apply, gain admission,and/or ultimately attend four-year colleges over two-year colleges, and that the composition of students and families who apply to HTH in high school and those who attend district-managed high schools in SDUSD differ in ways that likely influence their propensity of enroll in postsecondary education. It is translated for the purposes of drawing more attention on the part of China’s educational circles to HTH’s novel modes of education and of promoting the development of senior-high-school education in China. The translation report first introduces the source of the original text and why it is chosen to be translated. Then the analyses of its language features are given and the Communicative Translation Theory is briefly introduced.Examples are cited to illustrate how the Chinese version is completed under the guidance of that theory. To be specific, the examples involves such aspects as the translation of proper mouns, the rearrangement of word order, the racasting of information, addition, omission and removing errors in the original. Finally, the reflections on translation are summed up.
