In 1947,Fei Mu's "Spring of the Small Town" used the small town as a narrative background to show people's inner conflicts and depression in the turbulent years.Since then,the small towns in the film have been located in rural areas and cities and have been neglected.Since the 1990 s,with the transformation and upgrading of economy,society,and culture,urbanization has become the most important social phenomenon of the moment.On the other hand,films related to “small towns” have also been frequently recognized by both international and domestic awards,raising people's interest in small cities and towns,and related image creation and research have gradually developed and become more abundant.In today's society,it is a society that is in an important transformation stage of industrialization,informationization,modernization,and new-style urbanization.It is in this social context that small cities and towns are gradually constructing their customs,developments,and cultural connotations through images.The core of this article is to analyze the current social status in the images and light traces of the “small towns” in the imagery of China in the past 20 years by referring to the film culture theory and through in-depth reading.The core of this article is to analyze the current social status in the images and light traces of the “small towns” in the imagery of China in the past 20 years by referring to the film culture theory and through in-depth reading.The appearance of small cities and towns is not caused by one aspect or a single role.Therefore,the content of this article aims to explore the construction of images in small towns through different levels.This article is mainly divided into four parts.The first part: the construction of space.As a carrier of image space,small towns promote the development of stories and influence the presentation of characters' emotions and identities.The content of this chapter will be analyzed from the three dimensions of the space of recall,the real space and the surreal space,and explore the presentation of the spatial image of the small towns in the video.Part II: Character Construction.Through the analysis of the character and mental state in the small town space,the relationship between space and people is discussed.Part III: Cultural Construction.From the multiple perspectives of tradition and modernity,city and country,East and West,the contemporary social and cultural reality represented by the images of small cities and towns is discussed.Part IV: Main Reasons for Limiting Image Structure.The main reasons for restricting the image structure of small cities and towns are mainly discussed in three aspects: the director,the social status,and the film market.The director's growth history,popular pop culture,the consumer demand of the audience,the commercial nature of the film,and the market system all limit the.Establishment of "Small Town" Image.In the social context of the modernization transition period,this paper discusses what kind of image the small towns in the film actually present,what kind of temperament people in the small towns present,and the reasons for this image.
