The Struggling Life Of The Migrant Farmers

Farmers migrating to cities is a common theme in modern and contemporary Chinese literature.In 1930 s,Lao She created the image of Xiangzi,a migrant farmer,in Camel Xiangzi.In 1980 s,Lu Yao created the image of Sun Shaoping in Ordinary World.They are different types of farmers form different epochs.There are many aspects of the two could be compared as migrant farmer in the struggling life.Lao She and Lu Yao are the writers good at different themes belonging to different epochs.We can explore the similarities and differences about Lao She and Lu Yao?s writing the migrant farmers through comparing the struggles of Xiangzi and Sun Shaoping.It's a meaningful topic.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter mainly analyzes the city is the pursuit and yearning of Chinese farmers.Taking Xiangzi and Sun Shaoping as examples,they migrated to cities with different mentalities as different epochs and farmer living conditions.The second chapter mainly analyzes the struggles,circumstances and fates of Xiangzi and Sun Shaoping after they migrated to cities.They all suffered from short-term struggle to long-term harder struggles,and suffered a lot of blows in their career and love.No matter how hard it was to struggle in the city,they were determined not to return home.Eventually their fates was completely different.The third chapter mainly explores the reasons for Xiangzi and Sun Shaoping?s different fates after migrating to cities.From the writing purpose,Lao She shaped the image of Xiangzi with Anti-growth,while Lu Yao used Positive growth to create Sun Shaoping.From the characters themselves,the levels of people's needs and the influences of traditional culture are different.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the aesthetic and social significances of the migrant farmers narrative.We could explore the significance and values of Xiangzi and Sun Shaoping from the literary significances of the characters,the narrative modes of the migrant farmers,and the inspiration of farmers migrating to cities.
