This article, the translation from English to Chinese,is based on The Hidden Smiles of God written by American Christian writer John Piper. The translator takes the preface and the first chapter of the book as the translation practice, and sums up the problems encountered in the course of practice, and finally forms the translation report. The translation report covers four parts, which are task description, task process, case analysis, and conclusion. The first two parts mainly introduce the background of the task, including the information of the author and text analysis and so on.The third part is the case analysis, which is the core part of the translation report, mainly focusing on summaries of the problems encountered in the translation practice. As a biographical literature,it is characterized by both informative text and expressive text. Therefore, translation should not only be faithful to the source text, but also should possess the beauty of literature. In this translation report, the two typical problems, namely the sentences with figure of speech and the words and phrases with parallel structure, are mainly discussed. The former mainly discusses the use of alliteration, metaphor, and antithesis. The latter mainly discusses the translation of parallel words and parallel phrases.Combining specific contexts and applying relevant theories, the translator uses specific translation strategies to write the report, which conforms to accuracy of source text as well as the habit of Chinese expressions. This translation report has translated about sixteen thousand words of English text, which improves the translator's ability of translation practice. In the meanwhile,it also strengthens translator's ability to analyze and summarize. The translator hopes these methods will provide some help for the later translation.
