In recent years,the hospice care has developed rapidly in China and the number of college students participated in the hospice care services is also increasing.The hospice volunteers provide the end-of-life care services for patients and their families to help them die in dignity.However,these volunteers are also facing some psychological puzzles while benefiting our society,such as the feeling of helplessness,worthlessness,compassion fatigue,and burnout.One of the reasons why these volunteers in university serviced hospice care have such feelings is because they are easily impacted by the outside world.Therefore,the process of repairing,reconstructing and perfecting self-concept is the process of helping personal mental growth and establishing the individual's sense of self-value.Psychological resilience is the individual's psychological resilience in adversity.These volunteers always show the feeling of fatigue and burnout of sympathy during the servicing process of death therapy in hospice care.One reason is that their own emotions are involved in too much in the hospice care.Their level of psychological repair is not high and the psychological flexibility is in low level under the stressful situations.Therefore,this study intends to carry out an intervention study on college hospice care volunteers from the perspective of self-concept and psychological flexibility.Sandplay group is the innovation and development based on the Sandplay game,and the members of the group create their own Sandplay works by releasing their consciousness and sub-consciousness in emotional levels,promoting growth in the interaction with group members,and achieving the effect of inner integration and healing.Therefore,based on the related research at home and abroad,this study interposes intervene on the self-concept and psychological flexibility of college hospice care volunteers through the Sandplay group.Moreover,it also analyzes the effect of Sandplay group on their self-concept and psychological resiliency by combining the questionnaires data,Sandplay features and qualitative analysis ofinterview data.The result shows that:i.The self-concept level of the experimental group was significantly improved from the score analysis on the TSCS.The Sandplay group can come into effect on the self-concept intervention for college hospice care volunteers.ii.The experimental group's mental elasticity level was significantly improved based on the CD-RISC score analysis.And the Sandplay group was effective for psychologically flexible interventions of hospice care volunteers in university.iii.Compared with the initial sand table,the time of Sandplay making in the end of experimental group significantly increased.Meanwhile,the trauma themes markedly reduce and the healing themes increased.The number of self-image,the using number sand tools and their types increased significantly.iiii.The CQR qualitative research result shows that Sandplay group can help college hospice care volunteers improve their self-concept and mental resilience effectively: 92% members stated that the role of hospice volunteers was re-examined during the participation in the group;92% members believe that the Sandplay group provides a space for self-interview with the inner-self;75% members said that their sense of self-value has been improved;67% members have obtained a positive emotional experience.
