A Report On English To Chinese Translation Of Four Academic Publications On Smartphone Antennas

This is an E-C translation report.The source text is four sci-tech academic publications about smart phone antennas.Sci-tech academic publication translation is an important part of the translation field and many translators involve themselves into such translation.When analyzing the translation of sci-tech academic publication,the translator finds that some frequently-used theories,such as Text Typology,are frequently appeared in related translation reports,which leads to a lack of new ideas in translation of such text.Eco-translatology is a systematical Chines translation theory,which provides new perspectives for sci-tech academic translation.It's “adaptation and selection” principle and “three-dimensional transformation” method enlighten translators to conduct translation from multiple dimensions and flexibly select translation techniques.Thus,this report aims to introduce the guidance of eco-translatology to sci-tech academic publication translation through some detailed cases.This report consists five chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the background,translation process and outline of this report.Chapter 2 analyzes features of the source text from linguistic and communicative perspectives.Chapter 3 introduces the basic information of Eco-translatology,including the research subjects,adaptation and selection principle and three-dimensional transformation method.In addition,the guidance of Eco-Translatology to the translation activity is also introduced.Chapter 4 analyzes sci-tech academic publication translation through detailed cases from linguistic and communicative dimensions.Detailed techniques are used in chapter 4,such as word-for-word translation,transference and division from linguistic dimension,and replacing awkward expression,adding necessary information and adjusting order for coherence from communicative dimension.Chapter 5 is the conclusion.It mainly consists of a brief summary of the translation report and limitations to this report.It hopes that this paper can bring enlightenment to researches on Eco-translatology application and sci-tech academic publication translation.
