Academic texts are of great significance to the introduction and dissemination of different cultures, academic theories, advanced ideas and other academic researches.Research on Theory and Practice of Teaching:Special Issues,as a typical academic-type text and one of the 2015 Academic Translation Projects of Shaanxi Normal University, mainly introduces and discusses some issues of teaching theories and practices in modern times. It has a strong educational and enlightening function that can provide reference and enlightenment for education and teaching staff at home and abroad. The translation of this book can help foreign scholars to know and understand achievements and developments of Chinese academia so that it can spread China’s traditional cultures and mainstream values to the rest of the world.Based on the practical experience of Chapter Two of this book, this report aims to discuss and analyze how some words, phrases and sentences are translated in this chapter under the guidance of "multi-dimensional adaptation and adaptive selection"principle and "three dimensional" transformations—transformations in linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension—of Eco-translatology.As an emerging paradigm of translation study,Eco-translatology was firstly proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen of Tsinghua University who believes that translation,in essence,is a series of adaptive selections of the translator in an effort to adapt to the translational eco-environment.In this practice report, the translator classifies problems appeared in the C-E translation into contradictions in linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension respectively. To solve these contradictions and achieve an eco-balance,the translator makes adaptive selection and transformation in translational eco-environment of different dimensions. To be specific, the translator adopts specific strategies and techniques to solve specific problems:in linguistic dimension,to deal with category words, the difference of part of speech and the difference of syntactic structure, strategies and techniques, such as omission, conversion and reversing are selected by the translator;in cultural dimension,to avoid misunderstanding and to make up the information loss caused by cultural differences, paraphrasing and free translation plus annotation are used;in communicative dimension, literal translation plus annotation, amplification and recasting(synthesis)are adopted to overcome problems like the translation of terms, transformation of logic and of coherent discourse, and further to realize the communicative intention and achieve the eco-balance.Through discussing and analyzing how some specific strategies and techniques are used during the translation of Chapter Two of the academic book, the translator hopes that this thesis can provide references for and give enlightenment to the C-E translation of academic texts under the guidance of the Eco-translatology in the future.
