In the field of translation studies, translators and scholars tend to use the achievements of other disciplines for reference. They consider the translation studies from an interdisciplinary perspective. In 2001, Professor Hu Gengshen first put forward the notion of Eco-translatology and broadened the vision of interdisciplinary studies on translation by regarding translation from ecological perspective. During the past over ten years, on-going theoretical and applied research on Eco-translatology has been underway and some achievements have been accumulated. However, research combining Eco-translatology and interpretation is comparatively limited. And with the development of human society, international conference is becoming a platform for the discussion on policies and interests of all countries. The topics in these conferences are more and more diverse, including politics, economy, culture, education and so on. Interpretation in international conferences is concerned not only with the reputation of the interpreter himself, but also with the reputation and interests of the whole country, so interpreters would play a more and more important role in the conferences.Based on the theory of adaptive selection from three dimensions in Eco-translatology, the video records about the speeches and interpretation of five different countries are selected, and this thesis tries to analyze the eco-environmental factors which interpreters have encountered in the UN meeting spot, and in the process of adapting this kind of eco-environment, how interpreters’ selection from three dimensions adapt to special eco-environmental factors for the interpretation with the highest level of integrated adaptive selection. By focusing on the interpreters themselves, the author attempts to analyze the interpreter’s reaction to the environment instead of the specific interpreting strategies. This thesis adopts case analysis to achieve the conclusion that in this specific interpretation eco-environment, what the interpreters have encountered include the interpretation community which consists speakers and listeners and the interpretational eco-environment which includes international politics, economy, cultures and so on; also interpreters could dynamically adapt to the specific factors and conduct the transformation from three dimensions to achieve the interpretation with the highest level of integrated adaptive selection. The thesis is a kind of qualitative study about English-Chinese interpretation, which is expected to provide a new perspective for interpretation and some guidance for interpreting practice. It makes prominence on surrounding influence compared with translation and on different topics compared with one-field study.
