Irrational Psychology's Analysis Of Populism

Since populism appeared, it has been appeared in every period of the change and development of our country, just like shadow. Especially in the certain social transformation periods, People arriving at a common anxiety stage, populism actives in all aspects of life, with the identity of vulnerable groups and the universal cloak of people's welfare. There is no denying that populism plays an positive role in expressing people's reasonable demands, participating in political participation and power supervision. But the populism is different from what we advocating democracy, it has many negative characteristics such as grassroots and civilians, criticism and confrontation, emotional and irrational, changeability and adaptability, contradictory and self limitation and so on. It can not be ignored that populism can lead to many negative effects, such as the class antagonism, public trial and the tyranny of the majority, when populism combined with extreme nationalism, network violence and other factors.This article analyzes the production and performance of populism from the aspect of irrationality. Firstly, to grasp the populism from the aspect of macro, this article investigates the performance, features and social impact of the populism. Secondly, This article mainly explores non-logical cognition, irrational emotion and unconscious behavior.From Social cognitive biases, civilian irrational thinking and cognitive narrow to reveal the non-logical cognition. To analysis the civilian demands and negative emotions in populism according to relative deprivation theory, social anxiety theory and emotional rendering theory. To elaborate the collective unconscious in current popular populism from the three aspects, the adventurist political behavior, depersonalization psychology and opinion leaders. Finally, according to analysis the materials of the three aspects, this article puts forward three feasible suggestions to establish rational political psychology that improve the level of political credence from the aspect of improve citizens' rational cognitive ability and reconstruct the political identity model. In order to regulate people's political behavior, reduce the negative effect of populism and maintain social harmony and stability.
