Sungai Lima village is a traditional Chinese fishing village in Malaysia. This paper attempts to analyze means of livelihood, based on my fieldwork at a village named Sungai Lima. On the basis of the description of the development of fisheries, in my opinions, the livelihood changes affected by three reasons: the exhaustion of ocean resources; the loss of a large number of population and the local law. I discussed cultural adjustment in economic development with the theory of cultural change. Change of livelihoods is an economic behavior and also a cultural phenomenon.
