France and Germany had simmered for decades,in the history, there were too many wars and conflicts between the two countries that even culminated in two world wars. After the end of World War ?,France and Germany tried to arrange a peace, but ended in failure and the outbreak of the Second World War.After World War ?,reconciliation between France and Germany started again. With the successful solution of the "Ruhr problem" and the "Saar problem" as well as the signing of the "The Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between France and Germany" in 1963,France and Germany achieved full reconciliation.Through analyzing the two processes of France-Germany reconciliation,we find that both of them involved territorial disputes, reparation issues and the role of the League of Nations, however, the results of the two reconciliations are completely different. The differences are as follows:it was the rise of Soviet forces after World War II that made the Soviet Union become a common security threat to France and Germany;the existence of the United States super strength to guide and control the France-Germany reconciliation process;European integration to promote the France-Germany reconciliation beyond the bilateral perspective;France lost the dominance of reshaping the world order, making the policy in the France-Germany reconciliation negotiations not tilt too much.Meanwhile, the French and German leaders' persistence and promotion as well as Germany's profound self-examination and sincere apology are also the main factors that promote the success of the France-Germany reconciliation. These factors didn't exist during the France-Germany reconciliation process after World War ?.Although they may exist only in the specific historical circumstances at the time, they still have reference significance for the rest of the world that has a similar problem of reconciliation and cooperation between countries.
