A Study On Social Support Of The Rural Elderly Empty-nesters Care

Now,China faces a series of aging problems because of the rapidly increasing elder people.At the same time,the rapidly increasing number of empty nesters in China brings a lot of severe challenges.Due to the enormous differences in the economic development and social security between the urban and rural areas,there are more problems of the elderly empty-nesters pension than people in unban areas.Recently,this issue has aroused wide concern among the society and scholars.And it is extremely urgent to solve this problem.Therefore,this study of the problem of the rural elderly empty-nesters meets the need of the reality.With the theory of social support,this paper mainly use literature study and in-depth interviews to get to know the current rural elderly empty-nesters situation and difficulties in social supports,and analyze what different roles the different subjects of social support play in elderly rural empty-nesters pension.Through the interview data,we can find out that the current rural elderly empty-nesters are not well supported.Family provides the main social support to the rural elderly empty-nesters,but this kind of support is obviously insufficient.Because their children are absent in economic support,life care and spiritual comfort.Grandchildren and other relatives,neighbors and peer groups can only provide a small amount of social support,especially in spiritual consolation.The service consciousness of pension in community is low.And their ability to support the rural elderly empty-nesters is low too.Community hospitals are unable to meet their great needs because of the limit of the number of doctors and medical standards.The coverage of social security provided by the government is inadequate and the guarantee level is very low.This is the result of many factors.Due to the aging population and family planning policy,the population flows leads to the absence of children in the elderly support,the changes of interpersonal relationship in the community and the limited support ability,the low service consciousness of rural community service,the imperfection of social security system,and the low security level,the rural elderly empty-nesters encountered difficulties in pension.In this paper,we hope to improve the elderly people's pension in rural areas through these four aspects.At first,developing the rural economy to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas;the second aspect is to develop and improve the formal social support,and improve the level of social security.We hope to accelerate the reform of the medical system and set up more pension institution;Try to mobilize community resources to promote the service ability of community.Then I hope give full play to the role of the informal social support,strengthen the moral educational construction to create a good social atmosphere.Children should increase their financial support to their parents,and have more emotional communication with their parents;The neighbors and other relatives should provide more emotional support;Give full play to the role of non-governmental organizations.At last,the rural elderly empty-nesters should be highly self-motivated.
