Sino-Brunei Relations After The Establishment Of Diplomatic Relations

Sino-Brunei relations has a long history,Brunei is an important hub of maritime silk road since ancient times.There enjoys a long and harmonious friendship.However,in the late 19 th century,as Brunei became a protectorate of British,the relations between the two countries was forced to be suspended.It was not until 1984 that after the independence of Brunei,the bilateral relations was gradually normalized.China and Brunei have established diplomatic relations since 1991,the two countries gradually developed exchanges and cooperation in various fields,the leaders contact frequently,the relations between the two countries has been developing steadily.Since then,the relationship between China and Brunei opened a new page.Brunei is one of the earliest countries that established the diplomatic relations with China among Southeast Asian countries.It has been positive in the development of relations with China,especially in the mutual beneficial cooperation in the economic and trade fields.Nowadays,Brunei still has a very important geographical advantage.It has became one of Chinese importing countries of oil,gas and coal.China and Brunei has strong complementarities in economy.The governments attach great importance to Both mutual economic and trade cooperation.With the increasingly closed political,economic and trade relations,exchanges and cooperation between the two countries continue to broaden in various fields in terms of academic,educational,cultural,health,sports,science and technology.China and Brunei have a broad space for cooperation in the field of energy,infrastructure,defense,education and staff exchanges.As an important member of ASEAN,Brunei has an important impact on strategic planning of "Maritime Silk Road" in the 21 st century.This strategic planning will be more convenient for the bilateral cooperation of Brunei and China.This article aims at studying deeply on the system of China and Brunei,and summing up the characteristics of bilateral relations and the factors of change between China and Brunei.According to combine with influence of "the Belt and Road Initiative " on the relations between China and Brunei,it then will put forward the main countermeasures and suggestions to strengthen the cooperation between China and Brunei,in order to develop and intensify the friendly cooperation.
