A Study On Solitary Death Of The Elderly In Japan

Japan has stepped into aging society since 1970 s,and with the deepening of aging,average life of human being is longer.In addition,the social structure has transformed,so has the personal consciousness and concept.All these factors further make solitary death exacerbated and make it a hot social issue.Solitary death has drawn much attention of Japanese government and researchers.In order to have a better understanding of solitary death of the elderly in Japan,this paper analyzes the current situation and characteristics of solitary death of the elderly in Japan,and elaborates that solitary death can be different because of age,gender,area and family-structure differences.And the author discusses the reasons form the following three aspects: society,family and individual.Social factors include the weakening of social relations,the relaxation of social endowment culture,the lack of social Old-age security system.Family factors contain the shrink of family structure and the weakening of family pension function.Individual factors contain the poverty,body’s state of health and mental stress of the elderly.In the last,the author analyzes the measures to deal with solitary death in Japan from the perspective of government,society and family,also puts forward some feasible suggestions and measures to prevent and solve the problem of solitary death and to further improve the service mode of three-dimensional home-based care service mode in China.
