With the end of World War Ⅱ,the rapid growth of the Muslim population,on one hand the British prevent a large number of Muslims from immigrating; On the other hand,British adopt the Multiculturalism policy to deal with the problem of Muslim immigration."Multiculturalism" did play a good role in protecting the rights of minorities, but at the same time created many problems, forming a "parallel society"in the Muslims community. There are many factors that restrict the integration of British Muslims into the mainstream society, such as economic policy, cultural factors and educational, and identity. There were riots in some towns in Britain in 2001.On the basis of reflection, the British government has put forward a series of new policies, especially Community Integration,to promote the integration and cohesion of Muslims and residential communities. The first chapter is mainly from the Muslim immigrants,it’s about the situation of British Muslim immigrants before and after World War Ⅱ,introducing the composition of the British Muslim population composition and demographic characteristics by organizing the 2001 British census data. The second chapter mainly introduces the content of multiculturalism policy and the reflection on multiculturalism. There are positive and negative aspects about the analysis of the effect. From the positive point view, multiculturalism emphasizes the equality of culture and reflects the longing and caring for the freedom and equality of the subject in the world today, including the deep appeal of social democracy. But the facts have proved that the excessive manifest of multiculturalism is not conductive to fostering national identity, especially for young Muslim, and will be a threat to the social stability. It is not benefit for community integration,on the contrary,it can deepen the the self isolation, social exclusion and marginalization, resulting in a"parallel life " with the British mainstream society. The third chapter focuses on the current situation of the British Muslim community, restricting the integration of British Muslims into mainstream society. From the economic point of view,we can see the high unemployment of Muslim, poor living conditions; From the political point,British Muslims’ low political participation; From the cultural point,Muslims’ low level education, language differences; From the identity point,it’s mainly value recognition, identity and religious identity restrict the integration of British Muslims into the mainstream society. The forth chapter is about the analysis of community cohesion. The British gvernment has done much to adjust the policy of Multiculturalism, through the strengthening the community integration of ethnic minorities. And Community integration make efforts to the national education and bilingual teaching,to increase national identity,Muslims can take the initiative into other residents by learning English.Muslims can search a job and solve the employment problems by learning skills, thereby enhancing economic life.In addition, there are many community organizations,Volunteer organizations are important measures to enhance community integration.Strengthening the community integration not only requires the British society to abandon the prejudice against Muslims and discrimination from the economic, political, social and other aspects of integration and cohesion policy, and at the same time Muslims should take initiative to explore their own unique identity, while retaining inclusive values orientation, and integrating into British society. So the road of integration needs to work together.
