Since 1878,Kusunose Kita first questioned and challenged the women's political power,until the first House of Representatives election after the Second World War,Japanese women experienced a long struggle to gain political participation.Japanese women for the first time formally exercise the voting rights on April 10,1946,there are 39 candidates who won the election and became the first female parliamentarians in Japanese history.After the 1970 s,the Japanese government began to improve the status of women and the political environment by setting policies and revising laws.However,Japanese women still have serious problems of political participation.This article will be based on the history of women's political development from the Meiji period until the post-war,analysis of women's participation in politics from the Congress,local public groups and women's leaders three aspects,and explore the reasons.This article consists of three parts.The first part is the history of Japanese women's participation in politics since Meiji period.To describe the history of the women's political movements in the Meji Taisho period and the development of wonmen's political participation after the war.And to discuss the new achievements of Japanese women's participation in the international environment after the 1970 s in chronological order.The second part is the status of Japanese women's political participation after the war.To discuss the status of female parliamentarians in Congress,the status of female parliamentarians in local councils,and the situation of female leaders in Japanese politics.The third part is about the factors that affect Japanese women's political participation.There are main following four factors,women themselves and the family surrounding environment,Japanese electoral system,the relationship between political parties and female candidates and the heresy members.
