The sovereignty dispute in the South China Sea is a major problem that China is facing. Considering the fact that Taiwan actually controls part of the South China Sea, it is of great significance to understand Taiwan's South China Sea policy. During the two Chiang Dynasties, the Taiwan authorities always adhere to the sovereignty of the South China Sea, but it is difficult to have substantive measures as a result of the limited strength. The two Chiang Dynasties's policy of the South China Sea was inherited and developed during the forepart of the Lee Teng-hui Reign and Ma Ying-jeou Reign. After the rotation of the two parties, Lee Teng-hui exposed his Taiwan independence thought gradually and began to deal negatively with the South China Sea issue. Chen Shui-bian adopted a policy of ignoring the problem of the sovereignty of the South China Sea.Nowadays Tsai has adopted the "De-Sinicization" South China Sea Policy. From the long history, Taiwan's South China Sea policy has been affected by the political influence of the two-parties, obey and serve the Kuomintang and the Democratic Progressive Party's political views, showing a swing-like characteristic with the rotation of the two parties. And at the same time it's affected by the foreign forces, especially the impact of the United States, and also the mainland central government policy. This feature makes great variable and difficulty in taking joint action between the cross-strait in the South China Sea issue.
