Research On The United Russia Party's Political Participation In The State Duma Elections (2001-2016)

The research on party and political participation are important in politics studies,and many scholars are paying much attention on the issue about party political participation.The United Russia Party has become the biggest party in the State Duma under the support from President Putin.Although many foreign scholars have carried a large amount of researches on the United Russia Party and the State Duma,there are still a lot questions to be answered in this field.This article tries to answer four questions: What's the party political participation in Russia? What's the difference of the United Russia's political participation from 4th to 7th State Duma elections? What's the limitations and prospects of the United Russia Party in the elections of the State Duma?Firstly,according to the history of the United Russia's political participation in the State Duma(2001-2016),this thesis tries to summed up some rules about party political participation contexts,forms and features.Secondly,giving the theory about the electoral system,the essay attempts to figure out the United Russia's influences in the electoral system.In conclusion,some small parties will benefit from the mixed electoral system,and the proportional representation system will gain more seats for the United Russia.Thirdly,the United Russia aims to solve two problems.On the one hand,as the largest party,it dominated by the President.On the other hand,the United Party's political participation is weakened by voters,who did not take part in the 7th State Duma.Finally,this thesis puts forward to a hypothesis that the United Russia will be on three paths.First,the United Russia will change his power into predominance.Second,the United Russia will maintain being the power party.Third,the United Russia will unite other parties and social movements.
