A Study On The Feasibility And Path Of Mutual Support Of Urban Communities From The Perspective Of Social Work

With the development of living standards and the changes of family structure,psychological health and mental requirements are increasingly becoming the basic needs of the urban elderly group.Therefore,to satisfy the mental and cultural needs and provide comfort is one of the key factors in the improvement of service for the aged.Under the condition that the traditional pattern of pension lags behind and is unable to meet the demand of the growing pension conditions,how to find a pension mode which consists with era and satisfies the social requirements and meanwhile takes advantage of mutual support to give self-support within the elderly group is now a significant part in the senior citizen's care system construction.With a relatively low-budget and effective circulation mechanism,mutual support is an effective mode to cope with the aging population issue,which also accords with endowment patterns in China and features one of the most effective practical explorations at home and abroad.Thus,the thesis will focus on two research questions: Can the concept of mutual support be accepted by the senior citizen group in real life practice? Do the institutionalization and systematization of mutual support have a realistic foundation?The research in this thesis conducted in Lanzhou city reflects that some of the senior citizen groups and volunteer teams have already acquired the concept of mutual support.However,due to various reasons,mutual support is just a new concept and a vision for the elderly.It is far from meeting the requirements of institutionalization and standardization.Through the discussion of the existing problems of the current local senior citizen care mutual support status,the thesis further analyzes the necessity and feasibility of mutual support in Lanzhou city,anticipates the possible problems in its implementation on the basis of the current activity implementation situation of the investigated senior citizen groups and proposes accordingly preliminary thoughts and methods so as to pave a way to further discussion of mutual support in Lanzhou city.
