On The Restoration Of Local Government Credibility In China Based On Government Performance Evaluation

Local government credibility is an important indicator to measure the local government's own credibility and the trust of citizens to the government.It is a fundamental factor which makes local government exist legally and maintain steady.Government credibility and government performance evaluation complement each other.On the one hand,good government credibility is an effective protection of promoting the government to improve the efficiency,pay attention to benefits and focus on equity.On the other hand,an objective and fair assessment of local government performance will bring the acceptance of the citizens to their government;inevitably,it can enhance the credibility of the local government.However,nowadays,the credibility of our local government is not good,the performance evaluation of local government is still in the development stage,there are several problems in some aspects.It undoubtedly affects the credibility of local government to a certain extent.Local government performance evaluation and government credibility have some kind of fit relationship in terms of the target,the value,and the ways to achieve,so,enhancing the credibility of the government depends on the performance evaluation with a correct understanding and a rational implementation.Therefore,to begin with,this article arranged and combed the theory and practice of the local government performance evaluation and government credibility.It tried to expound the dialectical relationship between local government performance evaluation and credibility of the government,and explored not only the current issues of local government performance evaluation and government credibility in reality but also thedeep-seated reasons of these problems.It drew lessons from the mature experiences of the United States,the British government when they improve the performance evaluation system and then enhance the credibility of the government.Then the paper pointed out some ways to promote the credibility of the government.
