Gold can be used for asset appreciation during the social unrest while antique is the best choice for collection in the flourishing age.With the fast development of national economy in China,many people have developed a growing need for the spiritual culture at a higher level.Hence,the craze for antique collection has been sweeping the whole country.When it comes to the appreciation of cultural relics,ancient ceramics have the highest value and also face the fiercest controversy.Whether it is for the judicial practice in the public security organ,procuratorate and court or the folk exchange of ideas on antique collection,the objective and fair identification of ancient ceramics is always needed.The previous identification of ancient ceramics was reliant on the eye-based judgment of those experts on cultural relics.The subjective judgment should be based on the experience of those experts rather than the scientific and quantitative indicators.Hence,the judgment made by those experts is often controversial.In this paper,the science and technology concerning criminal matters,including optics and ichnology,will be adopted to discover and identify the laws and trace of the aging of ancient ceramics.Modern technologies will be also utilized for identification,thus providing scientific basis for the crime related to ancient ceramics.The experimental sample in this paper includes 43 ceramic chips unearthed in the relics of Ding kiln,Ru kiln and Jun kiln as well as 9 newly-made ceramics in the local place.Based on the existing researches,this paper will make a summary of the features of aging trace of ancient ceramics.BST-3C500 X magnifier has been used to observe,identify and verify the features of aging trace.With the aid of the self-developed laser age analyzer,the devitrification of ancient ceramics has been tested.Lastly,Raman spectra analysis technique has been utilized to identify and examine Si-Oh,which is the component of the hydrolysate on the glaze of ancient ceramics.The Raman Spectra Information Database will be also built and completed gradually.Hence,the three methods can supplement each other for mutual verification,achieving the accurate identification of ancient ceramics.It is hoped that this experiment can provide a new method for the test of aging trace of ancient ceramics and also better serve the public security organ in practice.The results of this research are as follows.1.The features of aging trace of ancient ceramics and scientific testing can provide technical support and reliable methods for the identification of ancient ceramics.Based on the scientific theories,the testing method is highly objective and accurate.The testing result has the advantages of being easy to quantify,direct and reliable.2.The aging trace of ancient ceramics can be classified into two categories.The devitrification and hydrolysate can be found in the aging trace and glaze surface.The aging trace is visible to naked eyes.The prominent features,such as bubble trace and seep trace,are easy to identify.With the aid of relevant equipment,the feature of devitrification on the glaze of ancient ceramics and the component of the hydrolysate will be examined.Based on the relevant data available,the identification of ceramic sample can be made accurately.3.The testing method for the aging trace of ancient ceramics will not cause damage to the precious sample of ancient ceramics to be tested.Therefore,it is a harmless and repeatable testing technique.Moreover,this testing method has a bright prospect of being applied to the judicial practice and the folk exchange of ideas on antique collection.
