Community Correction:Warmth Of Humanity Outside The Prison

The year 2019 will be the 15th anniversary of China's introduction of the conmmunity correction system,and it will be 15 years as well since the work has been ushered in Zhejiang province as the first batch of pilot provinces.Over the past 15 years,more than 200,000 criminals in Zhejiang Province have no longer walked into the high walls,who may be sentenced to put under surveillance,probation,parole,or serve sentence out of prison Due to the slightness of the crime,the positive attitude of be corrected,and the seriousness of the disease,they are allowed to be corrected and have a brand-new life in their familiar surroundings.They are fully entitled to a normal life and have the right to work under the precondition of observing relevant rules and regulations.The label of criminals is well-intentionally obscured in more and more interviews and activities.These people who may have made mistakes in the past are experiencing unprecedented respect and tolerance from the perspective of their personality.They have gained more positive guidance and humane treatment at the crossroads of their life,to reposition themselves and struggle to move on.However,due to the confidentiality and humanization of this work,the development of community corrections has so far remained unknown.Many grass-roots workers and social organizations have often been accompanied by silent applause for their devoted efforts,and they usually bear the gratitude from corrected targets in their hearts.The work of community corrections always blends of both bitter and sweet,and the difficulties in the work are rarely mentioned.The author believes that the work of community corrections is not only reshaping people,but also reconstructing social cognition.Therefore,the author deeply worked at the front line of several places,talked with grass-roots workers,conducted in-depth conversations with those who had received corrections,felt warmth of humanity uutside the prison,and tracked multiple social forces involved,documented their intertwined corrected life.Hopefully this report will give you a more intuitive and thorough understanding of the social work of"reshaping,educating,and helping oters" and strengthen social participation.
