| World Health Organization(WHO)reports that,by far,the population size of mentality issues accounts for approximately 450 million,of which Chinese take up to approximately 25%.Note that the number of Chinese patients has been increasing, from 2.7% in the mid-20 th century to 5.4% in the late 1990 s.The chance of involving a mentality issue has increased to 17.5%.This has lead to a population size of 16 million who endure mental problems. In the absence of effective medical measures, mentality issues can be recurring, and they last over time.Consequently, social security would be severely undermined. In a sense, mental illness accounts for hindrance against social stability. In this sense, patients are expected to receive medical and social support that would reinforce their assimilation into the society. In this manner, their contributions to social growth can be recognized, along with harmonizing unfavourable conflicts. The overall benefits would hinge upon social stability.Drawing upon social support theory, this research conducts an in-depth literature review that looks into social-economic environment, life support and mental care presented to patients. In line with a theoretical framework, survey questionnaire has been created for data collection. The discussion reveals the current situation facing patients, including problems, causes and solutions.A notable solution is to establish a comprehensive life-supporting system with the involvement of government and nursing facilities. All the stakeholders are expected to present appropriate remedies – including protective measures, clinical outcomes, and universal coverage –to put mental patients in good hands. The second solution is to revamp current care system with which the role of family in at-home care can be established. The third solution rests upon strengthening mental support.Essentially, effort should be devoted to improve communitywide awareness of mentality, and to enhance interpersonal communication. With these measures, mental patients can adapt to the community environment. |
