Relationship Replacement And Social Rehabilitation:Research In Social Support Of Drug Addicts In Communities

When drug addicts return to society,they face basic survival,employment,social interaction and other problems.The proper settlements of these problems and the practical needs are significant to the complete detoxification and the re-socialization process of social rehabilitation.This article takes the drug addicts from the "X" service agency in District "B",Shanghai as the specific research object and systematically studies the lives and social support of the drug addicts in communities being back to society through qualitative research from the perspective of social support theory.The analysis on the problems in drug addicts' lives is based on the combination of formal and informal supports and the agency-led interventions.The research finds that,first,in the traditional management mode,drug addicts face the social segregation caused by the rupture of social relations when returning to society,which results from social discrimination,social exclusion and insufficient social support;Second,the replacement of social relationship is the solution to drug addicts' problems like social segregation,and it can build the social support network for the drug addicts in communities and strengthen drug addicts actively constructing it through service agency-led interventions;Thirdly,peer education is a technical means of social support as well as an effective re-socialization mode of the drug addicts in communities.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this article consists of three chapters:The second chapter discusses and indicates the social segregation and the lack of social support when drug addicts return to society;The third chapter describes the social support construction of the drug addicts in communities in detail and introduces their active construction in interventions from social support network with the help of service agencies;The fourth chapter is about the concept and content of peer education,analysis on three pairs of relations in peer education activities and discussion about how to build the social support network and the long-term mechanism of re-socialization.
