Multimedia technologies have been applied in learning and teaching process more andmore popular, even in rural secondary schools. Multimedia assisted teaching methoddisplays so many advantages that make it has been used in teaching process widely,especially in chemistry teaching process. However, there are some disadvantages have beendiscovered for multimedia assisted teaching method using in actual teaching process.Sometimes, applying multimedia assisted teaching method in teaching process exhibited anegative effect on improving quality of teaching what it should have. That situationconfused teachers and researchers. Focus on the confusing phenomena, a questionnairesurvey have been took based on the actual situation what the author faces during teachingprocess in rural secondary schools. Basing on survey, psychology and cognitive theory, theinvestigation is aimed at discovering the passive reasons and developing solutions. Thereare512rural middle school students and5middle school chemistry teacher took part in thesurvey. The survey results shown that there are5factors, the computer skills of chemistryteacher, mechanism of educational teaching, job burnout of teacher, overfull information inteaching process which couldn't in accordance with student acceptance, and the quality ofchemistry teacher, which may compromise the quality of teaching. The computer skills ofChemistry teacher, understandings on multimedia technologies of chemistry teacher,understandings on multimedia technologies of student, and acceptance on multimediatechnologies of student have play key roles in influence the quality of multimedia assistedteaching process. The most important factor is the difference of understanding onmultimedia assisted teaching technologies between teachers and students. Some solutionshave been proposed based on the investigation results. The chemistry teaching process andthe chemistry courseware preparing mode, potential using in chemistry teaching process inrural secondary schools, have been proposed in particular. Following the proposed solutions,an actual chemistry teaching action has been carried out to evaluate the effect of solutions.Comparing the scores of student before and after teaching, it can be concluded that thequality of teaching have been improved obviously. The research confirmed that the teachingeffectiveness of multimedia assisted chemistry teaching can be improved when thepreparing and applying of chemistry courseware are in accordance with the understanding of students. This investigation also prove a reference for other subjects' multimediaassistant teaching methods in the rural middle schools.
