The SWOT Analysis On The Developing Non-professional Cycling In Hunan

Bicycles have always been using as an important means of transportation. But along with rapid economic development, people's living conditions have been greatly improved, so it turns out that people's awareness of health and environment protection has also been enhanced. Thus bicycles nowadays are more often used as tools to keep fit than transport, especially after the successful Beijing 2008 Olympics. It is a trend in the whole country to take various kinds of sports, among which cycling has been the most popular, not only a tool to keep fit, but also to be green.By using research methods like questionnaire surveys, mathematical statistics study, literature search, expert interviews and logic analysis, a SWOT analysis has been done in this paper on the current development of non-professional cycling in Hunan and the conclusions are:There are many advantages for developing non-professional cycling in Hunan:the government strongly supports developing non-professional cycling; there are plenty of non-professional cycling races, which lead to great benefits to all sides; beautiful scenery and terrains suit for cycling making cycling popular in Hunan; and the charm in cycling itself; There are many disadvantages for developing non-professional cycling in Hunan:lack in professional technical guidance and organizations; economic foundation is a must for cyclists. There are many opportunities in developing non-professional cycling in Hunan:people have gradually raised their awareness in keeping fit; scientific advancement helps to perfect sports equipment; public rental bicycle systems make it easier to join in cycling; multiple-media and the popularity of the internet build a platform for cyclists to easily take part in cycling activities; There are many threats in developing non-professional cycling in Hunan:security issues, for traffic accidents happened now and then; competition from other outdoor sports activities.Along with making full use of the advantages and opportunities of non-professional cycling, should also keep an eye on the outside world, change the disadvantages in to advantages, and turn the threats into opportunities, thus achieving the goal of developing non-professional cycling in Hunan.Based on the current situation of non-professional cycling in Hunan, the possible solutions are:carefully design the city roads to ensure the safety of cyclists; train professionals to guide and manage cycling teams; hold cycling races and enhance its social organizations; help the public to get to know about cycling; build the public bike rental system and provide convenient conditions for cycling.
