With the development of China's urbanization process, the phenomenon of large-scale calss size in county is outstanding and gradually become constraints to improve the quality of compulsory education.The research of large class size of county compulsory education school helps regulate the rational allocation of educational resources, It has positive significance to balance the development of compulsory education in our country.In fact,since 1960 s, the western countries have carried out a series of studies on the scale of the class size reduction, all studies are carried out around the relationship between class size and students' academic achievement, the results can be divided into two kinds: some scholars believe that small class size is more conducive to the improvement of students' academic achievement, and the others believe that there is no obvious link between the two elements.Unlike the situation in foreign country, the majority of small classes in our country appear in the remote rural areas, these small classes were passive generated under the influence of "student source reduction" and "school layout adjustment policy", but most high quality urban schools developed a lot of large-scale classes due to “school choice” phenomenon,the study of class size in China has its own characteristics under this situation. When we need to evaluate whether class size is suitable for the national conditions, the most important index which should be studied is student participation behavior that direct affected by class size, we can also call it “student engagement ”, then the mechanism of class size can be analyzed with it.Under the guidance of the research ideas, according to the classification criteria of class size, a questionnaire survey was carried out on a large scale class of 46 or more people in the county compulsory education school, the author used the correlation analysis, variance analysis and descriptive statistics to analyze the academic participation, social participation and emotional participation of the students in large-sacle classes, according to the analysis:student participation in large-scale classes is not ideal, students participate in academic and social participation is most affected by class size,especially the opportunities of students participation in class,teachers' careness and the communication between teachers and students,student achievement under emotional participation is highly affected by calss-size,but there is no significant difference between two kinds of classes in students' self confidence and self esteem.This paper firstly describes the background and significance of the thesis, sort out the relevant literature at home and abroad to define the relevant concepts, the influence of the students' background factors is strictly controlled by the method of statistical analysis, respectively analysis the 2-3 concrete observation indicators under the three dimensions of the student's academic participation, social participation and emotional involvement in large-scale classes, then the author puts forward the reflection based on the analysis of the results of the students' participation investigation in large-scale classes, in order to attract the attention of relevant aspects,and the author also hope that the results can promote the study of the mechanism of class size.
