Study On The Operations And Risk Management Of Sports Events

Mega sport events not only led to the development of local sports industry, but also promote the development of society and economy. This thesis studies the operations of mega sport events taking Tour of Hainan as an example.This thesis firstly make a comparative analysis of the top three international road cycling race(the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Tour of Spain cycling race) and several important domestic road cycling races, and get six key factors for reference.This thesis then studies the domestic and foreign sports standard system, and the application of ISO9000/ISO14000 in the field of sports. Then based on the analysis of the correlated cycling race management processes and other related problems, we propose to construct a standard cycling race management system, which can support the standardized management and the subsequent continuous improvement.Risk management issues of the road cycling race is studied. Five risk factors are identified, including natural risks, economic risks, environmental risks, human risks, and technological risks. All the risk factors of road cycling race are ranked by using the risk assessment table and the Analytic Hierarchy Process method.Limitation of this study lies in the followings which need further discussion and practice. Standardized management of road cycling race is a complex process, because multi-party participation and promotion are involved in drafting, revision and implementation of standards. In addition, risk monitoring and the post evaluation which are key and necessary in risk management, can identify, assess new risk factors, and help to revise risk management plans.
