Objective:Through this research to know the status quo and analyse the reasons,to found the influencing factors of humanistic caring ability and professional values among undergraduate nursing students and formulate a series of educational measures,to probe their relationship,and to provide more effective educational method to foster the positive professional values from the level of humanistic caring combine with our country's educational status quo and cultural background.Methods:From October to November in 2014,using convenience sampling to select 370 undergraduate nursing students in a medical school in Dalian City.A self-designed students' normal circumstance questionnaire,the Caring Ability Inventory developed by Nkongho and the Profession values Scale were used as research questionnaire for cross-sectionalsurvey.Using SPSS17.0 software for data entry and processing,using general descriptive analysis,two independent samples t-test,one-way ANOVA,Pearson correlation to do the statistical analysis.Results:1.Undergraduate nursing students' caring ability scored(192.44±24.06),The average point of CAI is(5.20±0.73).The total score and all dimensions' scores are lower than the normal values significantly(P<0.01).The scoring rate of the three dimensions from high to low were patience 85.23% score(59.66±6.48)average point(5.97±0.65),cognition79.95% score(78.35±10.23)average point(5.60±0.73),courage 59.82% score(54.44±15.89)average point(4.19±1.22).The total score of girls is higher than boys significantly(P<0.05).The total score of students in first and forth year is higher than students in the second or third year significantly(P<0.05).The students who had interest in nursing scored significantly higher than the students who had no interest(P<0.01).The students who always reading humanistic books scored significantly higher than the students who don't.However,there are no statistical significant difference between students from city and country,from only-child family and from non-only-child family,with religious belief and without religious belief,among students with different wishes of register or with different school records(P?0.05).2.Profession values scored(114.12±13.35).The average point of NPVS is(4.38±0.51).The scoring rate of the fore dimensions from high to low were trust 91.07% score(13.66±1.76)average point(4.55±0.59),responsibility,freedom,safety 89.32% score(22.33±2.71)average point(4.47±0.54),caregiving 87.88% score(43.94±5.41)average point(4.39±0.51),activism 85.48% score(34.19±4.81)average(4.27±0.60);There is statistically difference between different grades.The total score of students in forth year is higher than students in first,second and third year significantly(P<0.05).However,there were no statistical significant difference between girls and boys,students from city and country,from only-child family and from non-only-child family,with religious belief and without religious belief,among students with different school records(P?0.05).3.Except there is no relationship between the courage of humanistic caring ability and the activism of profession values.Undergraduate nursing students' profession values and its four dimensions were positively related with every dimensions of humanistic caring ability(P<0.01).Conclusion:1.Undergraduates' caring ability score is at the low level.There is much room to improve.Undergraduates' caring ability scores with different personal characteristics were quite different.2.Undergraduate nursing students' profession values score was at middle and higher level,which was supposed to be further improved.The Professional Values should be focused on the activism dimension.The profession values scores of different demography feature haven't significant differences.3.Humanistic caring ability and Professional values among undergraduate nursing students are closely connected.So the nursing educators can intervene students' profession values through education from the humanistic caring.
