As the human culture develops in this era, information literacy education, as an essential knowledge and skill for the human being in the 21st century, has gained more and more attention. Throughout the world, much emphasis has been given to education with respect to information awareness, information acquisition, information identification and information ethics, which are all necessary for the citizen. In consideration of various areas for people’s life and learning in the Internet, big data technology has brought unprecedented changes and surprises through its application. Various MOOC platforms emerging and developing rapidly in recent years have realized large-scale open online education for different kinds of learners. As a course with strong practicability and operability, information literacy education is more suitable for the attempt and application under MOOC concept. In this thesis, through analysis of the application of domestic and foreign MOOC in relevant course teaching as well as status quo of MOOC courses regarding information literacy education and in combination with characteristics of students of higher vocational colleges, the author explored the new models and new approaches of information literacy education for college students under MOOC concept, thereby playing the desirable role for people to participate in the research and teaching practice of relevant courses.This thesis has five chapters as follows:In Chapter one, the author described the research background, proposed the definitions of MOOC and information retrieval MOOC courses, and indicated main issues to be discussed here and the implications of this research.In Chapter two "Review of research status quo", the author analyzed the application of domestic and foreign MOOC in relevant course teaching, and collated and reviewed the domestic and foreign literature regarding teaching practice that combines information literacy and MOOC. In addition, the author also summarized and analyzed the development state, existing issues and appropriate measures for information literacy education in China.In Chapter three, the author, taking information retrieval course as example, proposed the teaching design model for information literacy education under MOOC concept. Through learning from domestic and foreign instruction forms of information literacy education MOOC courses, the author developed the design principle of information retrieval MOOC courses, and built and analyzed the teaching design model for information retrieval MOOC course.In Chapter four "Realization and evaluation of information retrieval MOOC course", the author explained the teaching arrangement and requirements of information retrieval MOOC course, produced and completed the teaching video courseware of information retrieval MOOC course, and evaluated learning effects via classroom application, questionnaire and problem scenario.In Chapter five "Summary and outlook", the author summarized the research findings and innovation points achieved in this thesis, and indicated existing deficiencies in this research as well as the outlook for subsequent research.
